Call it “optimizing customer satisfaction” or “maximizing the customer experience.” Texas Mutual Insurance Company calls it good, old-fashioned customer service, and we believe communication is key. When we discovered that some of our policyholders needed more information about our workers’ compensation health care network, we put together this nuts-and-bolts guide. It includes everything you need to know to decide if the network is the right choice for you.

With help from their agent, Richard Wagner of Catto & Catto LLP, Goodwill Industries of San Antonio became one of the first policyholders to take advantage of the network. The $100,000 premium savings helped the nonprofit organization serve 28,000 people last year, a record for Goodwill of San Antonio. What is the network?
Our workers’ comp health care network is similar to group health plans that employers offer employees. Doctors who participate in our network agree to follow the network’s treatment and return-to-work guidelines. Injured workers choose their treating doctor from a list provided by the network.
What’s in it for me?
If you choose the network, you get better control over your claim costs. Network doctors have experience in treating workplace injuries. Network case managers work with you, your injured workers and their doctors to identify return-to-work opportunities. The network’s return-to-work focus aims to reduce the human and monetary costs of workplace injuries. Employers who choose the network option may receive up to a 12 percent annual network premium discount.
How do I sign up?
The network is available to approximately 95 percent of Texas Mutual Insurance Company policyholders.
Eligible policyholders do not have to wait until their policy expires to enroll. Contact your agent for more information.
What are my network responsibilities?
Most importantly, you must make sure every employee signs and returns the Employee Notice of Network Requirements when you select the network and at the time of injury. You will receive a copy of the notice with your policy if you choose to participate in the network.
Where do I find out more?
Ask your agent, or visit the health care network section.
Do I have to participate in the network?
Participation is voluntary, but we believe that most policyholders will benefit from the network’s services.
