Tell your injured workers about new benefit requirements
The state has introduced new requirements for injured workers applying for supplemental income benefits.

For more information about the new requirements, visit www.tdi.state.tx. us/wc/employee/sibs.html. For more information about all types of workers’ compensation benefits, visit www. texasmutual.com/employers/empclaims.shtm#benefits.

DWC introduces return-to-work form
If your injured worker’s doctor asks for a description of his or her job duties, complete DWC Form-074, Description of Injured Employee’s Employment.

The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) created the form to help employers and doctors get injured workers back on the job as soon as medically reasonable. The form is available at www.tdi.state.tx.us/forms/form20.html.

For more information about DWC Form-074, contact Pat Crawford, DWC return-to-work coordinator, at (512) 804-4683 or Pat.Crawford@tdi.state.tx.us.

Participate in the sunset review process
The Sunset Advisory Commission has begun its review of the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and the Office of Injured Employee Counsel (OIEC). Sunset staff welcomes public participation in the process.

To read DWC’s self-evaluation report, visit www.tdi.state.tx.us/wc/ /indexwc.html. Go to www.oiec.state.tx.us to review OIEC’s self-evaluation report.

To submit comments or recommendations about the DWC or OIEC, visit www.sunset.state.tx.us/question.htm or mail to Sunset Advisory Commission; P.O. Box 13066; Austin, TX 78711.

The 12-member Sunset Advisory Commission includes 10 legislators and two public representatives who conduct regularly scheduled evaluations of state agencies and programs.

The commission is charged with determining if each agency’s functions continue to be needed, if those functions could be better performed by another agency, and if the agency’s statute should be changed to improve its operation.

For more information about the Sunset Advisory Commission, visit www.sunset.state.tx.us.

Get reimbursed for your return-to-work efforts
If you have two employees to 50 employees, you may be eligible for the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) return-to-work pilot program.

Under the program, the DWC reimburses qualifying employers for money they spend to bring injured employees back to work or keep them at work.

For more information, visit www.tdi.state.tx.us/wc/rtw/index.html, email rtw.services@tdi.state.tx.us or call (512) 804-5000.
