Network Helps You Build Your Business

Texas Mutual Insurance Company has assembled a select panel of quality providers to participate in the Texas Star Network®. We feel that approach makes the most sense for us and, more importantly, Texas’ injured workers.

Based on the results of the second annual Texas Department of Insurance network report card, we are right.

According to the report card, medical costs on in-network claims are 6 percent lower than non-network claims. We attribute the reduction largely to appropriate utilization by providers.

Essentially, more injured workers are receiving treatment, but each is individually receiving less treatment overall, thus helping control costs.

Besides the medical cost reduction, the report card showed that in-network patients return to work an average of 24 percent sooner than non-network patients, and they report similar access to care as non-network patients.

For a copy of the network report card, visit www.texasmutual.com/ /images/netreport08.pdf. Here are some other interesting facts about our network:

  • There are 33 certified workers’ compensation networks in the state.
  • Eighty-four percent of the employers in all networks are Texas Mutual policyholders.
  • Of the total claims for all 33 certified networks, 70 percent are Texas Mutual claims.
  • More than 30,000 Texas Mutual policyholders have elected the network option, and 690,000 employees are covered by the network.
  • We have handled more than 60,000 network claims since we created the Texas Star Network® in 2006.
  • Approximately 74 percent of new Texas Mutual claims are network claims.

Collectively, these statistics show that Texas Star Network® providers like you are in a good position to build your business and strengthen your partnership with Texas Mutual.
