Texas Mutual Thanks IIAT for Great Conference
In June, the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) held its 108th Conference & Trade Show in downtown Austin. Approximately 600 agency owners, 100 customer service representatives, and 250 company representatives gathered for two jam-packed days of activities. “The IIAT always puts on a great conference,” said Carolyn Howell, Texas Mutual® underwriting and marketing manager for the Austin region. “I enjoy the opportunity to meet more agents and put some faces with some names.” Howell was one of several staffers on hand at the Texas Mutual® booth. Approximately 130 exhibitors had booths at the conference. “This was my first IIAT conference as a Texas Mutual® employee,” said Donna Fink, the Houston region underwriting and marketing manager. “I’m very impressed with the IIAT staff here. They did a great job planning and executing the whole conference.” The 2005 conference included an open forum on House Bill 7. IIAT spokesperson Bo Gilbert moderated the discussion, and Texas Mutual® President Russ Oliver and Rep. Larry Taylor provided their own perspectives on the bill. “It will be some time before we fully understand the changes House Bill 7 will bring. Many of the details will depend on rules yet to be created,” said Oliver. “In the meantime, we recognize that many of you will need to answer questions from your customers about the new law right away. We are working to develop those answers and share them with you.” Since the conference, Texas Mutual Insurance Company added a section to its website with information about House Bill 7. The section includes links to other stakeholder messages as well as links to other websites, most notably the Texas Department of Insurance’s site. Click here for more information. Texas Mutual® is a registered service mark of Texas Mutual Insurance Company. |
