Lodging Group Accommodates Growing Industry

Lodging Group Accomodates Growing Industry

TLG is the first group offered by Texas Mutual that accommodates hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and hospitality groups.

Texas Mutual Safety Group manager Jack Ogden has plenty of reasons to be excited about the new Texas Lodging Group (TLG).

TLG is the first group offered by Texas Mutual that accommodates hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and hospitality groups. The group is a natural complement to the Texas Recreation and Texas Restaurant Association Safety Groups, positioning Texas Mutual to extend its service to the entertainment and hospitality industries.

But the biggest reason Ogden is raving about TLG is the group's growth potential.

"Texas is a hotbed for tourism," said Ogden. "We're home to three of the biggest cities in the country. We've got the Gulf Coast region, the rich culture of cities such as San Antonio, and the green landscapes of the Hill Country. We anticipate this group growing right along with the tourism business."

Texas lodging room revenues increased 44 percent between 2004 and 2007, according to a March 2008 report issued by the Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism.

Annual 2007 roomnights sold, the true measure of consumer demand, increased by 3.1 percent over 2006. The report attributes the industry's growth in part to a healthy Texas economy.

Any licensed Texas agent can earn points with their clients by connecting them with TLG. Agents who work with Safety Groups can generate higher premium volumes, increase their market share and improve customer retention.

Their clients have access to an industry-specific safety plan. They can also earn potential individual and group dividends, and they get a premium discount based on the group's premium volume.

Texas Mutual offers 27 Safety Groups representing a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, construction and health care. Any licensed Texas agent can submit qualifying clients for consideration.
