Whiteside and Broussard Elected December 15, 2004 - Texas Mutual Insurance Company announced today that Charles Whiteside Ph.D. will serve as the 2005 vice chair and Judy Broussard will serve as the secretary on the Texas Mutual® board of directors. Dr. Whiteside is the president & general manager of Ana-Lab Corp, in Kilgore. Governor George W. Bush appointed him to the company’s board of directors in December 1996. Ms. Broussard is the public relations officer for Sundown State Bank in Levelland. Governor Rick Perry appointed her to the board in October 2001. After House Bill 3458 revised the company’s charter in 2001, four of its nine-member board stood for election by policyholders. On June 27, 2002, over 5,000 policyholders voted—either in person or by proxy—to elect Dr. Whiteside and Ms. Broussard (along with Jose Cuevas Jr. and James D. Ross) to the board. NFIB Construction Earns $82K Dividend November 29, 2004 - Texas Mutual Insurance Company awarded an $82,184 dividend today to the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) workers’ compensation purchasing group for the construction industry. It was the second consecutive year the NFIB/Construction group earned a Texas Mutual® dividend. The group dividend is separate from the approximately $50 million in dividends that Texas Mutual Insurance Company paid to qualifying policyholders in July. Some NFIB/Construction group members may receive dividends under both programs. Since 1999, Texas Mutual Insurance Company has returned over $170 million in general dividends and over $5 million in purchasing group dividends. Texas Mutual's Bill McLellan Named CIO of the Year November 2, 2004 - The Austin chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) has named Bill McLellan as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Year. McLellan is the senior vice president of Texas Mutual Insurance Company’s information technology division. “We are very pleased to see Bill get this award,” said Texas Mutual® President Russ Oliver. “He’s been instrumental in a host of online developments we’ve made at Texas Mutual, and his leadership abilities are outstanding.” McLellan joined Texas Mutual Insurance Company in 2003. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas. He retired as a major from the U.S. Army, with over 20 years of combined active and reserve duty. The AITP will host its 7th annual Technology Executive of the Year awards ceremony at the Austin Convention Center on Wednesday, November 3.
