Injured workers

Texas Mutual®
Scholarship Program

Texas Mutual Insurance Company offers college scholarships to qualified surviving family members of employees who die from an on-the-job accident, and to persons whose injuries qualify them for lifetime income benefits (LIBs) pursuant to the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act and their spouses and unmarried children. The Texas Mutual® scholarship program provides up to $4,000 for tuition and fees per individual per semester. Limited assistance is also available for course-related books and supplies.

“As a company, our goal is not only to reduce the number of work-related injuries and illnesses in Texas, but also to help minimize their consequences,” said President Russell Oliver. “In the case of a work-related fatality, we hope that a scholarship might serve as part of the deceased employee’s legacy to his or her family, thereby reducing the family’s financial burden. We also want persons whose severe injuries qualify them for lifetime income benefits under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act, and their families, to have a chance to pursue education and training to help them build better futures.”
