Texas Mutual Safety Grants

In 2023, Texas Mutual awarded over $2 million in safety grants to assist eligible policyholders in purchasing safety equipment.

Our safety grants are reevaluated on an annual basis and are not guaranteed each year. We encourage you to sign up for policyholder news to stay informed of program updates.

How funds can be used

Funds may be used for ergonomic, safety, disease and illness prevention and industrial hygiene equipment to reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

The grant may not be used toward salaries, wages, internal labor, the cost of preparing the application or equipment or materials needed to perform a job.

Application process

In the application, you will be asked to share:

  • Your contact information
  • The number of full-time, part-time and temporary employees at your company
  • The type and cost of equipment your business is planning to purchase with grant funds
  • How the equipment will improve safety

Who is eligible

Current policyholders in good standing are eligible to apply. Policyholders must have a Texas Mutual Online (TMO) account. (Don’t have one? Create one now)

Current policyholders in good standing are eligible to apply when applications open. Policyholders must have a TMO account to access the application

Each approved policyholder will receive a check for $1,500.

Grant funds may only be used to purchase ergonomic, safety, COVID-19 prevention and/or industrial hygiene equipment to reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. Common examples include:

  • Personal protective equipment
    • Fall protection and prevention
    • Safety clothing
    • Respiratory protection
  • Industrial hygiene equipment
    • Gas meters
    • Sound level meters/dosimeters
  • Ergonomic equipment
    • Ergonomic tools
    • Ergonomic workstation items
    • Equipment lifts
  • COVID-19 prevention
    • Disinfectants/cleaners
    • Fan/filtration systems
  • Machine guarding
  • First response
  • General safety
    • Safety signage
    • Safety courses

When the application is open, a policyholder can apply for a grant on behalf of multiple businesses, but you will need to use a separate TMO account(s) to do so. Only one grant application is permitted for each unique email address connected to a TMO account.
