Texas Mutual Scholarship Program

Texas Mutual Insurance Company offers college scholarships to qualified surviving family members of employees who die from an on-the-job accident, and to persons whose injuries qualify them for lifetime income benefits (LIBs) pursuant to the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act and their spouses and unmarried children. The Texas Mutual scholarship program provides up to $6,000 for tuition and fees per individual per semester, and up to $600 for course-related books and supplies.

Scholarship qualifications

The Texas Mutual scholarship program is open to:

  • surviving, unmarried spouses and unmarried surviving children of an individual who died as a result of a work-related injury,
  • persons whose severe injuries qualify them for lifetime income benefits (LIBs) under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act,
  • the spouses and unmarried children of persons whose severe injuries qualify them for LIBs under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act.

The employee’s company must have been a Texas Mutual policyholder at the time of the accident.

The Texas Mutual scholarship program is not an automatic benefit. The decision to offer a scholarship rests solely with Texas Mutual Insurance Company and may be altered or discontinued at any time without notice.
