Texas Mutual employees volunteer 1,347 hours in October

At Texas Mutual, we believe that our work goes beyond insurance. We’re committed to building stronger communities and making a positive impact across Texas. This past October, our employees were once again a force for good during our annual Month of Giving, a tradition now in its fifth year of partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

Across four Texas cities, 389 Texas Mutual employees volunteered a remarkable 1,347 hours, supporting 47 local organizations and countless neighbors. Keep reading to learn how employees from each of our offices made a difference last month.

Austin

Our Austin employees started out the month volunteering with Mobile Loaves & Fishes in its Community First! Village, where they got to know residents, worked in the gardens, helped with landscaping and tended to chickens. Employees also continued an annual tradition of a family volunteer event, in partnership with Generation SERVE, to support several Central Texas nonprofits. Volunteers participated in kid-friendly activities, including making pet toys for an animal shelter, compiling snack bags and making fleece blankets for children.

Throughout the rest of the month, our employees assembled winter soup kits, built pet packages and helped children with homework at Foundation Communities, packed and distributed food boxes for families at El Buen Samaritano’s food pantry, prepared and served lunches at Caritas of Austin, made thank-you bags for Texas Search & Rescue staff and volunteers and helped Saint Louise House host their annual Trunk or Treat event

Dallas

Our Dallas employees stepped up for their community by preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, speaking with clients at My Possibilities and packing and delivering cold & flu kits for Foundation Communities

The Dallas team also spread the volunteer spirit while hosting a friends and family volunteer event where participants worked on projects for Catch Up & Read, Humane Society of North Texas and the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

Houston

Houston Food Bank Volunteers

Our employees in Houston kicked off their Month of Giving by helping out at the Ronald McDonald House of Houston. Throughout the rest of the month, they decorated lunch bags for Kids’ Meals, helped care for kids at Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, prepared meals for the Houston Food Bank Kids Café and assembled hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E.

Lubbock

Our Lubbock employees started off October supporting an annual veteran’s luncheon with the South Plains Honor Flight. Throughout the rest of the month, they helped care for animals at Morris Safe House, prepared dinner for families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, decorated for a Make-A-Wish North Texas event at their office, packed food boxes for community members at the South Plains Food Bank and helped out with a science carnival for Science Spectrum.

The team also hosted a family volunteer event where they completed several projects with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, including making bookmarks, creating beaded bracelets with words of encouragement and writing holiday cards for military members.

Across Texas, our employees continue to fulfill our mission of creating a stronger, safer, and more resilient Texas. We’re proud of our team’s deep commitment to giving back, and grateful to our nonprofit partners who help us make a difference in the communities we call home.

Thank you to every Texas Mutual employee and community partner who helped us show up for our neighbors during this year’s Month of Giving.
