Policyholder Grants and Community Grant Programs

Grants for a stronger, safer Texas

To help build stronger and safer communities, we invest in grant opportunities for our policyholders and nonprofits across the state. These programs are evaluated annually based on our resources and to ensure that we direct funding to communities and organizations in need.

Safety grants for policyholders

One benefit of being a Texas Mutual policyholder is eligibility for exclusive grant opportunities. Since 2016, we have awarded over $4 million in safety grants to policyholders. Safety grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Recipients are awarded $1,500 for the purchase of approved safety equipment to help reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. This includes ergonomic, safety, COVID-19 and/or industrial hygiene equipment.

021 community funding for nonprofits

Texas Mutual has committed $4 million to nonprofit organizations through two Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives in 2021. Through the first RFP for generational learning, we have awarded $2 million to 38 organizations. The second RFP for Workforce Development and Safety Training, which is now closed, will invest in upskilling, apprenticeships and safety training programs.

First responder health and wellness grants

We partner with VFIS of Texas to support need-based grants for volunteer first responder and nonprofit EMS organizations. The grants encourage participation in health and wellness programs to help recipients improve their wellness and prevent on-the-job injuries.

Applications open in the fall and are managed by VFIS of Texas in partnership with the State Firefighters’ & Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas. Learn more on the VFIS of Texas’ site.
