Texas Mutual names Bill Potter as chief financial officer and Larry Martin as senior vice president of human resources

With the retirement of two long-time Texas Mutual leaders, we’re proud to announce the promotion of two employees to the roles. Bill Potter, who joined Texas Mutual in 2018, was recently named the company’s new chief financial officer. He assumes the role following the retirement of Mike Barron, who served in the role for over 17 years. Larry Martin, who joined Texas Mutual in 1994, was named as the company’s new senior vice president of human resources, after the retirement of Lynette Caldwell, who held the position for over 12 years.

During his time at Texas Mutual, Potter has led the premium audit team as they enhanced their focus on customer service, resulting in a policyholder audit satisfaction rate of 98%. Before joining the company, he accumulated more than 25 years of finance, accounting and business leadership experience in various roles. Potter is a certified public accountant who earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton. In his new role as CFO, he will be responsible for overseeing the financial and strategic planning functions of Texas Mutual.

Since joining Texas Mutual over 25 years ago, Martin has held a number of roles within the human resources division including, vice president of human resources consulting services. He has also helped oversee the growth of the company’s college recruitment program and implementation of the company’s learning and development and performance strategies. Martin has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Texas. In his new role as SVP of HR, he will be responsible for ensuring Texas Mutual’s resource strategies and policies support our mission, values and employees’ well-being.
