Driving-related crashes are the leading cause of workplace fatalities in the oil and gas extraction industry. NIOSH researchers surveyed 500 industry employees in Colorado, North Dakota and Texas to explore the top causes. The findings showed long work hours, insufficient sleep and missing components within employer driving safety programs as the leading causes.
