OSHA issues directive on targeting risky worksites

OSHA issued a new directive on targeting workplaces with high rates of injuries and illnesses for comprehensive inspections. Under the revised Site-Specific Targeting inspection program, the agency will be using electronically submitted calendar year 2021 injury and illness rates to select non-construction establishments for inspection. Based on those rates, businesses are grouped into four categories: high-rate establishments, upward trending establishments, low-rate establishments and non-responders.

New interim final rule outlines procedures for retaliation complaints

OSHA has published an interim final rule, which outlines procedures and timeframes for retaliation complaints stemming from the Criminal Antitrust Anti-Retaliation Act. Under the rule, retaliation can include firing, demoting, revoking benefits, harassing or decreasing pay. The public can comment on the rule until April 23, 2023.
