From policyholder dividends to community grants, see how we're here for Texas

Texas Mutual is committed to the resiliency of our great state. Our financial stability ensures that we can continue delivering on that commitment as we face the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last few years, we’ve strengthened our community affairs program, TXM for Texas, by building meaningful relationships across the state. This strategic network gives us clear insight into the well-being of our communities and allows us to answer the call for help when needed.

$330 million paid in dividends ahead of schedule

A core pillar of our community program is to empower the communities across the state where our policyholders live and work, and so our first step was to pay dividends two months ahead of schedule. In April, we distributed $330 million in dividends to 57,000 policyholders, putting funds into their hands when our economy needed it the most. Since 1999, we’ve paid $3.1 billion in dividends to Texas Mutual policyholders.

$2 million to nonprofits on the frontlines

When the pandemic first hit, we recognized the immediate need to support nonprofits on the frontlines. In May, we completed delivery of $2 million to 47 organizations across the state. The grants were delivered to help ensure the most vulnerable individuals in those areas are served during the COVID-19 pandemic.

$500,000 in first responder grants

We’ve partnered with Volunteer Firemen’s Insurance Services of Texas (VFIS of Texas) to provide need-based grants to volunteer first responders and nonprofit emergency service organizations. Together with VFIS, we awarded a total of $500,000 through two separate grant programs. $200,000 went toward a financial relief grant program that helped provide funding assistance to EMS organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and $300,000 went toward health and wellness grants that are currently open through December 31.

$150,000 in response to Hurricane Laura

Even with the pandemic uprooting our day-to-day lives, Texas Mutual stood ready to respond when Hurricane Laura devastated Orange County this past August. We delivered $50,000 to the Orange County Disaster Rebuild to support ongoing recovery efforts and $100,000 to our policyholders impacted by the hurricane.

$1 million in community sponsorships

A report from One Star Foundation indicated that 82% of nonprofits have experienced or anticipate experiencing cancellation of programs or events during this time. With the pandemic impacting nonprofits across the state, we know that standing by our partners is more important than ever. We’ve committed to our longtime partners that we will continue to fund sponsorships for events such as rodeos, galas or luncheons, even if they have been cancelled or switched to virtual. This represents $1 million to our partners across the state.

While the pandemic has changed almost every aspect of our lives, we continue to monitor how it’s affecting our communities, and work to identify how we can make the biggest impact. We’re grateful for our policyholders and agents who do business with us, and trust in our mission. We’re proud to continue to do our part for a stronger, safer Texas.
