Through a recent survey, the NSC found that 90% of employers associate workplace impairment with issues from substances, mental health and chronic stress. The NSC recommends that employers update company policies and consider more than substance misuse when addressing impairment in the workplace.

CPWR requests information on fall incidents to improve voluntary standards

A new survey asks safety professionals for details on fall incidents they’ve experienced, witnessed or investigated. Results will be used to improve voluntary national fall protection and prevention standards. The survey will remain open until April 30.

Workplace violence prevention act for health care workers is reintroduced

A bill concerning workplace violence prevention for health care and social service workers was reintroduced this month after failing to reach a Senate vote in 2019. The bill would require workplace violence prevention plans for employers in the health care and social services sectors through an OSHA standard.
