NHTSA released preliminary data on the traffic fatalities during 2021. The projection shows 42,915 people died in a motor vehicle crash last year, which is a 10.5% increase from 2020 and the highest number of fatalities since 2005.

New report shows a rise in construction fatalities

A report from The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) shows that the rate of fatal injuries in the construction industry increased over 11% between 2011 and 2020. The rate for fatal injuries among Hispanic employees rose over 31% during the same period.

Survey shows mental health issues correlate with workplace safety

The National Safety Council (NSC) announced that its Workforce Trends Indicator Survey showed that feelings of depression and anxiety were correlated with how safe respondents felt at work. Survey respondents who felt unsafe at work were almost three times more likely to report depressive symptoms and more than twice as likely to report symptoms of anxiety than those who felt safe at work.
