Texas Mutual delivers $1.1 million in safety education grants to colleges

Teaching the class

Since 1999, Texas Mutual has been proud partners with colleges across the state that provide their local communities with access to safety programs. This year, we distributed $1.1 million in grants to 11 Texas colleges offering free or discounted workplace safety and health courses to local businesses and their employees.

These Texas Mutual grants support risk management programs at:

  • Amarillo College
  • Angelina College in Lufkin
  • College of the Mainland in Texas City
  • Del Mar College in Corpus Christi
  • El Paso Community College
  • Kilgore College
  • Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont
  • Lee College in Baytown
  • Midland College
  • Odessa College
  • Texarkana College

Courses offered at these colleges include driver safety, ergonomic safety, the latest Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) standards and industry-specific courses tailored to the primary industries in their communities.

Over a 23-year period, we’ve awarded $11 million in safety education grants to colleges, and more than 35,000 students have attended free or discounted safety training. At Texas Mutual, we know a strong workforce is a safe one and we’re proud to invest in and support colleges across the state that are helping their communities be stronger and safer at work.
