Safety, Wellness and First Responder Grants

Grants for a stronger, safer Texas

To help build stronger and safer communities, we invest in grant opportunities for our policyholders and nonprofits across the state. These programs are evaluated annually based on our resources and to ensure that we direct funding to communities and organizations in need.

Programs exclusively for Texas Mutual policyholders

Our safety and wellness grant programs are exclusively for Texas Mutual policyholders. These programs are currently being evaluated and we will announce by mid-year if they will be available for 2021.

Safety grants for policyholders

In 2019, we awarded $1.5 million to policyholders for the purchase of ergonomic, safety and industrial hygiene equipment to help reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. Our safety grants provide qualified policyholder applicants with $1,500 to purchase approved safety equipment.

Wellness grants for policyholders

Healthier employees save you money on workers' compensation claims, health care costs, missed workdays and so much more. We've partnered with Naturally Slim, an online and mobile app program, to help enhance employee wellness. In 2019, we awarded 258 policyholders with a wellness grant, representing 35,066 employees.

Community funding programs

Through our community affairs program, TXM for Texas, we invest in organizations that are working to fortify businesses for the future and cultivating resiliency across the state.

2021 community funding

Texas Mutual is committing $4 million to nonprofit organizations through two Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives in 2021. The first RFP for Generational Learning opens on May 3 and will seek to mitigate the generational impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on working families. This funding cycle will invest in initiatives focused on health and wellness, access to child care and digital inclusion. The second RFP for Workforce Development and Safety Training opens on August 30 and will invest in upskilling, apprenticeships and safety training programs. Applicants do not need to be our policyholder in order to apply.

First responder health and wellness grants

We partner with VFIS of Texas to support need-based grants for volunteer first responder and non-profit EMS organizations. The grants encourage participation in health and wellness programs to help recipients improve their wellness and prevent on-the-job injuries.

Applications open in the fall and are managed by VFIS of Texas in partnership with the State Firefighters’ & Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas. Learn more about the 2021 grants on VFIS of Texas’ site.
